February 18, 2026, PBO Phase II Examinations
The Philippine Board of Orthodontics (PBO) is pleased to announce that seven (7) candidates passed the 2026 PBO Phase II Written and Modified Wire Bending Examinations conducted February 18, 2026 at the Rockwell Club, Makati City. The Written Examination was conducted in the morning with the practical wire bending exam in the afternoon. The examinees who successfully passed included 1 from Manila Central University, 4 from the University of the East, and 2 from the University of the Philippines:

Our congratulations on their passing the PBO Phase II Examination which qualifies the locally licensed dentists with PDA membership to apply to become a member of the Association of Philippine Orthodontists (APO). Those unable to apply to the APO due to the PDA membership requirement should not allow it to detract from their successful participation in the PBO Examination process. This assessment value to further improve their clinical and didactic advancement can possibly prepare them to participate in their own national certification examinations.
Only after passing the PBO Phase III/IV Clinical Examinations and gaining Diplomate Status can one claim to have passed the entirety of the PBO Examinations and be called, PBO- Certified Diplomates, Philippine Board of Orthodontics.
July 9, 2025, PBO Combined Phase III/IV Examinations
The PBO is pleased to inform the PRC Board of Dentistry, the Philippine Dental Association, the Association of Philippine Orthodontists and the General Public that the following successfully passed the PBO 2025 Combined Phase III/IV Examinations:
The two-part examination was conducted from 8AM-3PM Wednesday July 9, 2025, at the Rockwell Club, Makati City, Metro Manila.
It consisted of:
- Candidate Case Report Oral Examinations
- PBO Board Cases provided by the Examination Committee
Upon their Induction they will receive their certificates as Diplomate, Philippine Board of Orthodontics (DPBO) qualifying them too for their PQF Level 8 Classification with the PRC Board of Dentistry.
For both Dr. Beduya and Dr. Luat, in becoming a Diplomate of the Philippine Board of Orthodontics (DPBO) this signifies a peer-assessed, high-level certification through a rigorous series of examinations beyond the years of mandatory postgraduate, continuing education and self-preparation. It marks them as orthodontists with an extra commitment to excellence, integrity and adherence to international standards. It validates their proficiency in orthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical outcomes, elevating their status amongst their patients and the public. Their DPBO reflects their active role in continuing clinical education, and a commitment to evidence-based, high-quality orthodontic treatment.
Reflecting the dynamic nature of orthodontic clinical practice, Recertification amongst PBO diplomates as with other Boards internationally, is a process of peer review wherein Diplomate certificate holders present their cases for discussion to encourage learning and to provide a venue for a free exchange of ideas. PBO Diplomates who were first recertified include Dr. Ermelinda S. Galang, Dr. Marilyn A. Leung and Dr. Crisanta C. Santayana followed by Dr. Dennis Lim and recently Dr. Rachel Y. Lim, Dr. Roberto Tan and Dr. Robert I. Eustaquio.
February 19, 2025, PBO Phase II Examinations
The Philippine Board of Orthodontics conducted its Phase II examination at the Metropolitan Club in Makati City last February 19, 2025. Would be aspirants and noble members of the examination committee braved the Metro Manila rush hour traffic to arrive at the venue before 8:00am. This year’s Phase II exam consisted of an extensive written part followed by an assessment in wire basic bending basics.
Successful examinees are now eligible to apply for membership into the Association of Philippine Orthodontists upon completion of the remaining application requirements.

For the first time since the pandemic began, the PBO was finally able to administer Phase 1 examinations in person last November 9, 2022 at the Metroclub. All five members of the Examination Committee, composed of Drs. Sandra Syliangco Adriano, Marianne Hernandez, Annabelle Kopio, Teresa Goduco and Maria Victoria Reyes were present. All 8 examinees, 4 from UE, 4 from CEU, successfully passed the interview and manual dexterity examinations administered on that day. All passers are now eligible to take the Phase II examination scheduled on February 7, 2023.
A new diplomate for 2021
This is to announce that Dr Martin V. Reyes recently took the Phase 4 examination last July 7, 2021. The examination committee composed of Dr. Sandra Syliangco-Adriano (Chair), and its members, Dr. Marianne Perez-Hernandez, Dr. Teresa Paras Goduco, Dr. Annabelle Eloise Dy-Kopio and Dr. Maria Victoria R. Reyes, conducted a comprehensive virtual examination which Dr. Reyes passed.
On August 2, 2021, Dr. Reyes was conferred the title, Diplomate of the Philippine Board of Orthodontics in the presence of Dr. Rachel Yang-Lim, PBO Chair and Dr. Sandra Syliangco-Adriano, Exam committee chair.




Successful 2018, 2019 and 2020 Examinees
The PBO Phase 1 examinations were held on November 21, 2018. Out of 22 Examinees, there were 20 Passers — 12 from the University of the East, 7 from Manila Central University and 1 from Centro Escolar University.
The Phase 2 written examinations were held at Metroclub last January 23, 2019. 8 passed out of a total of 18 examinees — 4 from the University of the East, 2 from Manila Central University 1 from Korea University and 1 from Centro Escolar University.
Another batch of examinees took the Phase 2 written examinations last March 27, 2019 at Metroclub. 6 from the University of the East and 2 from Manila Central University successfully passed.
Last January 22, 2020 PBO Phase 2 written examination took place at Metroclub with two (2) applicants from Manila Central University passing the Phase 2 examination. The Examination was attended by the Chair of the Examination committee, Dr. Sandra Adriano and PBO Chair, Dr. Angela Centeno and the Examination committee members, Dr. Teresa Goduco, Dr. Marianne Hernandez and Dr. Annabelle Kopio.
Currently, there is no PBO accredited Orthodontic postgraduate university training program in the Philippines. Graduates of accredited orthodontic programs are exempted from taking the Phase 1 interview and dexterity examinations.
